Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems sector is seeking a Test Engineer Level 2/3 to join our qualified, diverse engineering team. The candidate should have a hardware test focus (digital, analog, and RF), and experience with COTS Test Equipment. The candidate will support the development of NG Communications, Navigation, and Identification (CNI) Test Sets. These Test Sets are designed as end-to-end testers, and have automated test capability using LabVIEW and TestStand software. The Tests Sets contain RF, Digital, Analog, and Network interfaces, have a Database Command/ Control, and are used during Integration and Test, Qualification tests, and other informal and formal tests on NG CNI Software Defined Radios.
The selected applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Avionics and Tactical Networks (ATN) Operating Unit, where our team of communications systems experts is developing next-generation radios for our armed forces, and our Electronic Warfare subject matter experts are creating the next generation of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) countermeasures to keep our soldiers safe when in harm's way. The selected applicant will synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.
Avionics and Tactical Networks (ATN) is an operating unit within the Communications business unit of the Airborne C4ISR Systems division of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems. ATN is located in the Rancho Carmel facility in San Diego, California.
- Systems Test Engineer 2 requires a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of related experience.
- Familiarity with common RF test equipment (eg. Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope)
- Understanding of RF Communication test techniques
- Logistical Management experience
- Proficiency with test system calibration
- Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
- Experience developing LabVIEW software to control Test Equipment
- Current DoD Secret Clearance
