Avionics and Tactical Networks (ATN) is an operating unit within the Communications business unit of the Airborne C4ISR Systems division of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems. ATN is located in the Rancho Carmel facility in San Diego, California. We deliver complex equipment to enable modern battlefields and support aviation missions. Our focus is on the world of avionics, radio and electronic warfare product applications to enable networked communications. As part of the corporation's business focus area on Communications, we are the equipment providers. Our team of communication systems experts is developing next-generation ground radios for land forces, and our Electronic Warfare subject matter experts are creating the next generation of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) countermeasures to keep our soldiers safe when in harm's way.

This position will be performing an the Engineering Manager (EM) role providing leadership and oversight for the engineering team to achieve program objectives and supporting efficient program execution. The Engineering Manager role will have technical oversight of the program deliveries and products, requiring a strong technical engineering background in RF electronics products, and experience and skills for customer interaction, team leadership, and program management communication. This position needs experience with military communication systems; knowledge of manufacturing processes, including testing, test equipment, test software, and quality control.

This Engineering Manager role will contribute and lead the team in performing: technical planning; system design and analysis; cost and risk assessment (EVMS); requirements verification and validation; customer acceptance. The focus of the effort is on system development for equipment and software used in manufacturing of communications hardware or our Communications Navigation and Identification (CNI) systems and other communication systems developed in this operating unit.The individual must have an understanding of communications systems operation including RF and digital hardware and interfaces.

Basic Qualifications:
- US citizen with a Secret clearance
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, and 14 years experience with a Bachelors in Science; 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD
- Experience with deriving requirements, performing software or hardware design and development, performing integration, test, verification, and validation of systems
- Expertise in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project)
- Understanding of DOORS
- Experience with communications and network products

Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams and interacting with customer and management.
- Current Secret security clearance and capable of successfully passing Extensive Background Investigation (EBI) for
higher level clearances
- Knowledge of RF/Digital circuitry
- Proficiency with test environments and equipment
- Experience with working with manufacturing of hardware products
