Systems Engineer 3
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to join a team designing and building advanced, state-of-the-art systems in our San Diego, CA location. Our team supports the MFD Programs at this location,
where we are an integral part in the development and maintenance of radio communications systems. Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. They should project a friendly, positive attitude and work cooperatively in a multi-faceted environment; as well as exhibiting an ability and desire to self-educate.
The system engineering position requires at least a SECRET clearance supporting the high volume JCREW production line as well as classified signal processing development and test. The interested candidate should have strong software skills with recent experience with C , java, python, matlab, vhdl, verilog and very strong Labview development skills with recent completed projects in the areas of automated test, hardware monitoring, transient event capture and system verification testing. The Labview requirement requires at least five years of intense, consistent use of the product including knowledge of hardware setup, low level VI creation and interfacing with various test equipment. Knowledge of communication waveforms, modulations, link budgets, RF measurement and RF parts characterization is a plus. This position requires hands-on experience on the production line and in a classified anechoic chamber working with production units, RF test equipment, Labview workstations, mechanical fixtures and threat devices on a daily basis. In addition, the systems engineering candidate must be able to work in a fast paced, team environment to solve issues found on the production line, design potential solutions both in hardware and software and communicate clearly with other team leads, production personnel, and upper management.
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
- Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; Masters of Science with 3 years of related experience
- Experience with requirements database development, management, maintenance experience (e.g. DOORS, Requisite
Pro), Trade Studies analysis/development
- Experience with MS Windows applications and proficient in the use of MS Office software.
- Able to function in multi-disciplinary team-oriented environment and rapidly adapt to changing work priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Must have active Secret ClearancePreferred Qualifications:
- Experience in systems engineering in RF systems
- Proficiency with MATLAB or SIMULINK
- Integration & test experience
