Systems Design Engineer / Principal Systems Design Engineer **ACTIVE CLEARANCE REQUIRED**

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a Systems Design Engineer / Principal Systems Design Engineer at our Northridge, CA facility to join the Advanced Programs team to develop complex, next generation, state of the art missile systems. You will be a member of a high performing, systems engineering team interacting program management, cross-functional teams of engineers and senior technologists.

The successful candidate will contribute to the system design and development, and risk analyses for the total systems. You will coordinate and participate in the synthesis, design and development of system level concepts and define system capabilities. Participate in the translation of customer requirements to create system requirements, and specifications. Develop system and subsystem technologies that provide advanced system capabilities. Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Support lead Engineer in system and sub-system level CONOPS development.
• Perform technical planning, requirements definition, multi-segment interface definition and system design activities that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, performance assessment, requirements allocation and interface definition studies of subsystems to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
• Prepare and present system and subsystems preliminary and detail design configurations and performance assessments
• Support the develop of program reports, white papers, and proposals

Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.

This position can be filled as a Systems Design Engineer (T02) or a Principal Systems Design Engineer (T03). Basic qualifications for each level are listed below.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualification for the Systems Design Engineer (T02) are:
• Current active Secret clearance or higher.
• Secret Clearance Periodic Reinvestigation within the last 5 years
• BS in Engineering (or related) discipline.
• 2+ years' experience in systems and product development.
• Versed, skilled and disciplined in systems development and system engineering processes and thorough understanding of all phases of product lifecycle.

Basic Qualification for the Principal Systems Design Engineer (T03) are:
• Current active Secret clearance or higher.
• Secret Clearance Periodic Reinvestigation within the last 5 years
• BS in Engineering (or related) discipline.
• 5+ years' experience in systems and product development.
• Versed, skilled and disciplined in systems development and system engineering processes and thorough understanding of all phases of product lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications:
• BS in Systems Engineering and 5+ years' experience in systems development
• Background in aerospace systems; basic understanding of aircraft systems, missile systems, missile subsystems and their design drivers.
• Working knowledge of low observable technologies
• Working knowledge in survivability analysis
• Familiarity with Operations Analysis - processes, methods, tool sets, and
threat systems.
• Familiarity with MBE, MBSE, MDAO and other systems analysis methods and tools.
