Systems Architecture Manager 3

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks to fill a Systems Architecture Manager 3 responsible for the leadership and direct supervision of a technical staff responsible for developmental and sustaining of navy systems programs. The system architecture group will work with internal/external customers to develop system architecture, hardware and software design solutions, establish new program/project start-ups, and develop/manage risk assessments.

The candidate's primary duties and responsibilities will include providing technical leadership of the engineering staff, providing engineering oversight of multiple projects, preparing cost estimates and proposal inputs, developing and implementing employee career development and training plans, identifying and developing necessary engineering tools and capabilities, maintaining proper levels of staffing through forecasting and recruiting, supporting strategic planning, and championing continuous process improvements.

The candidate will work closely with the directors and managers of other engineering disciplines, program directors and program managers.

Travel is occasional, consisting of visits to customer and subcontractor offices for program updates and technical reviews. Travel may increase in frequency around major program milestones.

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline is required with a minimum of 9 years of related engineering / project / program experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and military specifications will be required. Strong fundamentals in systems engineering is also required. The demonstrated success collaborating and leading diverse teams and prioritize multiple projects on schedule and within cost will be required. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must. The candidate will demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities. He / she will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. The ideal candidate will also be able to champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office will be required to perform assigned duties. A government secret clearance will be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree in engineering management, first-hand experience with requirements management, design and operational knowledge of navy programs are preferred.
