Northrop Grumman Missions Systems (NGMS) Sector is seeking a Systems Administrator 4/IT Lead to join a support team located at our Schriever AFB, CO location.This position will require the ability to effectively work alongside software developers, testers, operations specialists throughout the full lifecycle development of hardware and projects.

Lead IT Department operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing/scheduling resources. Team responsibilities include:

  • Providing system preventative maintenance services
  • Performing timely installation of IT systems, upgrades, patches, and software.
  • Providing on-call (24 hour) Ops support
  • Hardware installation of procured COTS HW and SW
  • Real-time troubleshooting support to baseline issues
  • As-needed engineering design solutions to address deficiencies, discrepancies or new requirements related to hardware and communication components
  • Maintaining mission critical and mission unique computing systems
  • Manage and maintain a flexible team capable of quickly adapting to a very dynamic environment while maintaining our exceptional performance metrics
  • Gather customer requirements, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements
  • Support architectural trade studies and designing of engineering solutions
  • Challenge staff to generate innovative and efficient ideas that bring value to the mission set
  • Prepare and maintain project plans associated with assigned technical efforts.
  • Install/configure/patch/troubleshoot and maintain an operational environment
  • Clearly relay technical knowledge to both technical and non-technical stakeholder, both written and verbal
  • Address complex issues and break down solutions into executable tasks
  • Effectively manage resources to address unanticipated needs.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication

Position contingent on final adjudicated TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 9 years of IT experience or 13 years of IT experience in lieu of degree
  • Two years leadership experience in a team environment
  • Hands-on experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux or Microsoft Windows
  • Hands-on experience with scripting languages (i.e. PowerShell, Python, Bourne Shell, Bash)
  • Hands on experience with switches, routers and firewalls
  • Current Security+
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Counter Intelligence Polygraph
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience Administrating RedHat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of satellite operations and spacecraft launch processes
  • Extensive experience with log aggregators (i.e. Splunk, LogRhythm) and/or network management tools (i.e. SolarWinds, OpenView)
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud Services, Cloud and Managed Hosting such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Hands-on experience with Pure or EMC Storage solutions
  • Hands-on experience with Cross Domain Solutions
  • Hands-on experience with storage and computing virtualization technologies in a production environment (i.e. VMWare)
  • Knowledge and experience with the following server hardware (Dell PowerEdge servers, HP Proliant Servers, Dell PowerVault Storage/Tape systems)
  • Strong working knowledge of relational database management systems (i.e. Oracle, PostgreSQL)
  • Familiarity with other Engineering disciplines
  • Excellent problem solving, customer service, and communication skills
  • Strong inter-personal and supervisory skills
  • Strong team-building and organizational skills in a high paced dynamic environment
