This position is for a Staff Engineer Software Lead to support the Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) Organization on the SWDC program at Schriever AFB, CO. The Staff OPIR Software Lead will oversee all Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS) Driver and BMDS OPIR Architecture (BOA) Driver development efforts in support of MDA Flight Tests and Integrated/Distributed Ground Tests.

Primary duties include: requirements gathering and management via JIRA, Real-Time Enterprise Modeling and Simulation (RTEMS) software design and architectural approval, coding and capability development predominantly in C++, Java, and Perl, cyber hardening of all source code, unit and system testing of RTEMS software, compilation of source code, deployment of new software builds, and troubleshooting and bug-fix for RTEMS execution in a Ground or Flight Test environment.

As the Software Lead, additional duties include: coordination of all software development activities for a team of 4-5 developers, establishment of innovative software solutions to challenging "next generation" capabilities in both SBIRS and BOA capability representation in Ground and Flight Tests, and identification of improvement opportunities within the current RTEMS software suite.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's of science degree and at least 14 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing Simulation Framework (SIMF) software within the RTEMS suite of applications.
  • Working knowledge of SBIRS Mission performance/execution.
  • Working knowledge of BOA Mission performance/execution.
  • Working knowledge of LINUX commands.
  • Ability to maintain and follow documented processes and procedures.
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • DoD Final Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's of science degree in a relevant science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) discipline.
  • Experience coding in C++
  • Experience coding in Java
  • Experience coding in Perl
  • Detailed working knowledge of SIMF (RTEMS Driver) performance/execution.
  • Detailed working knowledge of OLGASIM performance/execution.
  • Detailed working knowledge of FOXSIM performance/execution.
  • Detailed working knowledge of RT-RDSIM performance/execution.
  • Experience leading focused teams of software developers.
