Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Subsystem Software Integration Engineer 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, modify and maintain standardized or customized embedded Mission Systems applications using software engineering best practices and standards
  • Participate in the full life-cycle of software development in support of test aircraft ground integration and flight test activities
  • Requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, debug/integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance
  • Support the day-to-day operations for the flying test bed
  • Support hands-on integration activities both in the laboratory and on the aircraft
  • May require in-flight support to meet task objectives

Qualifying candidates must be able to work complex technical problems, provide meaningful solutions, and act as a consultant to Integration Team Lead in terms of direction to be taken and pursuing courses of action. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of electronics engineering experience OR
  • Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university
  • Experience in Object-Oriented Design Languages, such as C, C++, Java, etc
  • Experience testing, debugging, and/or integrating software on embedded systems
  • A current DoD Secret level security clearance, to include a Single Scope Background Investigation, a periodic reinvestigation, or an original adjudication date completed within the last 6 years
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain program access

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Program access
  • Experience with Linux/Unix or Windows development
  • DoD 8570 certification, such as Security+, A+, CCNA, etc
  • Previous aircraft flight event support (Class 3 medical certification preferred)
  • Experience adhering to MIL-STD-1553B
  • Experience with VxWorks
  • Experience with Agile SDLC
  • Scripting experience with Python
  • Experience with SEI CMM/CMMI, IEEE or military standard software engineering practices
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
