Northrop Grumman is currently in need of a SR Structural Engineer located in San Bernadino, California. Will researches and develops structural engineering specifications for metallic, non-metallic and composite structures in all phases of the product life cycle - from preliminary design to sustainment. Analyses of the structures could include loads, stress, stability, fatigue, and thermal. Analyses will be performed utilizing hand calculations and or finite element software packages such as Nastran and Abaqus. When finite element models (FEMs) are appropriate, critical thinking skills will be required to develop a FEM to capture appropriate behavior of complex non-linear structures. Due to the complex nature of the systems analyzed, the position requires working closely with multiple engineering disciplines including but not limited to Computational Fluid Mechanics, System Engineering, and Mechanical Design to achieve program objectives in a timely manner .

Additional work responsibilities may include task planning, conducting technical peer reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and communicating with customers .

Basic Qualifications:
* U.S. Citizenship with an Active Secret security clearance (or higher)
* Bachelor Degree (with min 9 yrs experience), Master Degree (with min 7 yrs experience), or PhD (with 4 yrs experience) in applicable Engineering field (Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, Math)
* 7+ years of experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)withany ofthe following Or similar Tools: Nastran, Abaqus, ANSYS *
* 6 Months Experience coding in Matlab, C, and or Python

Preferred Qualifications:
* Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) experience
* Abaqus FEA experience
* Active Top Secret security clearance
* Composite Experience
* Civil Engineering Experience
o Explosion or Earthquake modeling experience
o Experience with modeling concrete under dynamic loading
* Load and Dynamics Experience
o Launch Vehicle Coupled Loads Analysis (Max Q, Gust, Buffet, etc.)
o Experience running dynamic (random vibration, sinusoidal, shock) tests
o 2+ years of experience in calculation and evaluation of dynamic environments (Shock, Random Response, and Sinusoidal)
o Experience with VA1 or Wave6 Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) tools
3+ years of dynamic FEA experience in any of the following solvers: Abaqus (implicit or explicit), LS-dyna, or similar
