Staff Systems Engineer

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract (DSC) in support of the Missile Defense Agency. The GMD element, composed of the Ground Systems (GS) and Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) components, is a critical part of our nation's layered Ballistic Missile Defense System providing the U.S. with the capability to engage and intercept long range ballistic missiles during midcourse flight. The Launch Support Systems (LSS) software monitors, maintains, and launches the Ground Based Interceptors (GBIs) from a Launch Farm against incoming ballistic missile threats. The LSS software interfaces with the GBI silo, maintaining the interceptor inventory and status while providing the trajectory and the commands to launch to the GBI.

This versatile Systems Engineer will help lead a diverse team of Software, Hardware, Integration, Test, and Systems Engineers as a Deputy Product Manager for the LSS product. This lead will work for the LSS Product Manager, and with the other Deputy Product Manager, the Chief Integrator, the Chief Architect, the Chief Product Owner, and the Chief Engineer to coordinate efforts and act as an interface with our Boeing LSS team. This position requires direct interface with the Customer, Program Manager, Business Management, Contracts, Engineering, Manufacturing and Manufacturing Support teams in support of program reviews, objectives, and schedule.

Job Responsibilities:
Lead team of 30+ Software, Hardware, Integration, Test, and Systems Engineers.
Act as interface with the Boeing LSS team.
Ensures engineering standards are met.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math discipline and at least 14 years of relevant engineering experience; or MS and 12 years; or PhD and 9 years.
5 years of functional and technical management leadership experience
Proven experience applying Earned Value Management
Experience with customer and stakeholders relationship management
Proven experience with presentation/briefing development
Demonstrated skills in the organization and execution of tasks and projects
Experience supporting DoD proposal activities that includes BOE development, Integrated Master Schedule input, and writing contributions on multiple proposal activities.
Previous experience leading and managing teams
Active Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
MS degree in STEM discipline with 10 years of applicable technical and leadership experience
Leadership experience managing large technical teams (30+ leads and engineers)
Experience with Network design and integration
Understanding and/or experience with the Missile Defense Agency and their programs
Experience and understanding of Engineering Processes and Procedures
Project Management and/or Integrated Product Team Leadership experience
Proven experience managing subcontractor product development (e.g. SOW, Requirements Flowdown, Schedule Tracking, Deliverable Verification and Validation, Quality Inspection and Production)
