Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is looking for highly motivated Staff Cyber Systems Engineers to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at one our Northern Virginia locations (Herndon, VA; Fairfax, VA; Reston, VA) or Washington D.C. The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the program Scrum Teams performing systems engineering associated with designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing Big Data analytic systems for the program using an Agile DevSecOps model.
Job Duties:

  • Collaborates with Government counterparts, Mission Owners, and analysts to identify requirements for Big Data analytic systems
  • Identifies analytic algorithms and models that can be leveraged support those requirements (e.g., using AI/ML techniques)
  • Identifies and captures requirements, features, and user stories in JIRA (in collaboration with the Intelligence Analyst)
  • Documents architecture and system models using UML and/or SysML
  • Identifies, defines, and documents internal and external interfaces
  • Develops performance models to estimate, measure, and optimize performance using tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, and CloudWatch
  • Collaborates with the Training and Outreach team to update user training materials to incorporate new training requirements


Basic Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 14 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience OR a PhD with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; An additional 4 years of experience maybe considered in lieu of a degree requirement
  • Experience with Agile, AWS, Cloud Architecture, System Modeling (UML and/or SysML) or Microservice Architectures
  • Experience with various database technologies including RDBMS, Elasticsearch and/or SOLR, NoSQL technology (Hadoop and/or EMR)
  • An Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance (or higher) with the ability to obtain Polygraph once hired
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Splunk, AppDynamics, CloudWatch
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certification
