Northrop Grumman's Propulsion Systems is currently seeking a Sr. Principle Engineer Propulsion for our SLS Pressurized Structures Project Engineering team supporting several locations within the Flight Systems but home location would be the Promontory, UT facility.

Role description & Responsibilities:

Responsible for overall Technical vision/direction and project leadership of the engineering team for the SLS BOLE design, development, test and evaluation (DDT&E) of the pressurized structures (Case) and SLS flight sets 4- 9 Case structures utilizing the required matrixed resources.

Job Duties:

  • Delivery of SLS case hardware for Artemis 2 - 8 and static test. Systems and Project Engineering for RSRMV case hardware
  • Design, development, production, and test of new SLS BOLE Case including composite and metal pressurized structure.
  • Coordinate Structures development with other DDT&E integrated teams such as Unpressurized Structures, Insulation, Rocket Motor Assembly, and Booster Assembly
  • Synergize with NASA teams under the new Customer Insight interaction model
  • Develop integrated project plans for implementation based on technical vision/direction including working with CAM to populate the IMS\
  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans and tasks for support organizations via ETM and change management systems
  • Deliver technical presentations to internal review and working groups; external IPTs, BITM and ERB/ECB


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering
  • 5-7 years of experience working with booster structures including design and analysis engineering.
  • Knowledge of model and drawing creation, GD&T, and engineering change process
  • Strong customer focus, initiative and commitment to meeting scheduled due dates including IMS, ETM and change management systems.
  • Technical broad background of structures design and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, build relationships and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization as well as internal, NASA and other external customers/vendors
    Preferred Requirements:
  • 10 years' experience working with metal and composite structures in design and/or analysis
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles
  • Working Knowledge of configuration management system and board approval processes
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of structural analysis and design of structures.
  • Knowledge of engineering change process
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, build relationships and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization as well as internal, NASA and other external customers/vendors
  • Master's degree preferred
Education/Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering and 9 years of experience or MS with 7 years of experience
