Sr. Principal Engineer Database

As part of our San Antonio, TX Software & Digital Technologies engineering team, you'll join our experts developing systems and solutions that are revamping the entire cyberspace continuum of defense, exploit, and attack. Put your years of information systems experience to work in a Database Engineer position with Northrop Grumman.
We are seeking a Senior Principal Database Engineer (Band 4) to support a variety of projects and technologies, with opportunities to provide advanced technical solutions for Cyber-related national security projects. As a Senior Principle Database Engineer you will:

  • Collaborate with other Engineers to design, develop, build, analyze, evaluate and install database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation and configuration management.
  • Use data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases.
  • Determine data storage and optimum storage requirements.
  • Prepare system requirements, source analysis and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation.

He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator, collaborator, and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Additional duties may include:
  • Maintain and ensure availability for multiple production and development databases.
  • Develop and maintain MongoDB solutions
  • Provide for the upgrade and patching for the Oracle 12c database and related software.
  • Conduct performance tuning of SQL, indexes, and databases in general
  • Provide backup and recovery support and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
  • Maintain security and integrity controls and formulate policies, procedures, and standards for database management.
  • Provide for the upgrade and patching for the Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g/12c (WebLogic) environment.
  • Conduct configuration and performance tuning of the WebLogic, Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) environments.
  • Support the implementation of all required security updates as directed by applicable STIGs, local policies, and ACAS scans.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math discipline and at least 9 years of experience; or MS and 7 years; or PhD and 4 years.
Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ or CASP certification within 6 months
Active Top Secret Clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph

Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.

CompTIA Security+ or CASP certification

Oracle Certified Database Professional (OCP) certification

Experience with MongoDB Administration

Apache or WebLogic Web Server Administration Experience

Experience with Elasticsearch Administration

Experience with PostgreSQL Database Administration

Accomplished in both Agile development framework and Model Based Engineering
