Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSS) seeks to fill a Manager Level 2 Software Engineering position in the Payload and Ground Systems Division. This is a dual role encompassing both people leadership and technical performance (20/80 respectively
The Engineering Organization requires an Engineering Manager experienced in Software Engineering to lead a team that consists of Software engineers, Network Engineers, and System Administrators. Candidate will ensure quality engineering support to programs, IRADs, CRADs, and new business pursuits. Responsibilities include employee inclusion to include day-to-day communications, employee engagement, performance management, career development, employee rewards and recognition, and resolving personnel issues. The responsibilities also includes the recruiting, sourcing, onboarding of new employees, college and intern recruiting, development and advancement of engineering practices, identification of skill gaps, and increasing engineering competencies through strategic hiring and employee skills development. The position requires functional management of approximately 8-15 engineers.

The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. This candidate will demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities. He / she will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals. The candidate will work closely with the directors and managers of other engineering disciplines, program directors and program managers. The ideal candidate will also be able to champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline

• Minimum 8 years software engineering experience.

• Minimum 4 years of management experience; understand and support Northrop Grumman policies

• Active TS/SCI, eligible for TS/SCI poly security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of the Space or Ground Systems mission, development, or business area.

• Breadth of software engineering experience on large and small programs and Business development activities

• Program management, functional management, and customer management skills

• Broad area of experience working in software development environments

• Time management skills and a proven ability to follow through on actions

• People focused

• Strong written and oral communication skills
