Solutions Architect 3/4

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman’s team to support the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) suite of computer and automated software applications. CBP PSPD supports a broad range of complex business systems which are instrumental to the CBP mission of securing our borders while facilitating legitimate trade and travel.

Northrop Grumman is seeking qualified and experienced Solutions Architects to be a part of the PSPD team. This position will require the ability to effectively work alongside other software developers, testers, operations specialists, and database specialists throughout the full lifecycle development. This position will include working within an agile development team performing technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness analyses across large and complex systems and projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build capability-drive enterprise architectures
  • Create a line of sight from strategies to key capabilities to systems and technologies supporting them
  • Take advantage of disruptive technologies and plan migration to the cloud
  • Use industry-standard frameworks and patterns
  • Perform master data management
  • Create roadmaps of business transformation
  • Produce dashboards to gain clear understanding of the big picture
  • Perform Business Process Analysis with Simulation and Optimization
  • Build operational and system architectures with defense architecture frameworks
  • Use market-leading support for DoDAF and other frameworks
  • Build architectures using the Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF 2)
  • Integrate with UNICOM Focal Point for portfolio management

This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4.

This position requires US Citizenship.

All work will be performed on site at CBP offices in Northern Virginia.

Some local travel to various CBP sites may be required.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3 are:

  • 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 2 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD; a total of 9 years related experience can be accepted in lieu of BS degree.
  • Must have an active or able to obtain a DHS/CBP security clearance.
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture (EA) and System Architect/Software Architect Tools
  • Experience with Atlassian toolsets, including JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience with Agile project management methodologies, including Scrum
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project staff
  • Must be a team player, self-motivated, self-starter and a quick learner
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and activities and keeping within deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with strong listening skills
  • Strong customer service experience

  • 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD; a total of 13 years related experience can be accepted in lieu of BS degree.
  • Must have an active or able to obtain a DHS/CBP security clearance.
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture (EA) and System Architect/Software Architect Tools
  • Experience with Atlassian toolsets, including JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience with Agile project management methodologies, including Scrum
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project staff
  • Must be a team player, self-motivated, self-starter and a quick learner
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and activities and keeping within deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Experience working in an O&M capacity
  • Experience with Atlassian toolset, including Jira, Confluence, and Bamboo.
  • Prior experience with DHS/CBP
