Solaris Systems Administrator 3/4

Northrop Grumman in Suitland, Maryland is seeking a Solaris System Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Put your expertise and years of experience providing technical support for Oracle/Sun Solaris system and servers to work in building a center of excellence for security and operation within the Federal Government by joining a Northrop Grumman team delivering cutting edge technology solutions and services to our clients. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's AVIPSS team providing support to the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI). AVIPSS is a long-running program providing critical knowledge management focused IT support to the ONI and other related agencies.

Expected Roles and Responsibilities:

The candidate selected for this position shall assist our technical teams with system analysis, system and application maintenance, capacity planning, and diagnostics and make recommendations for improvements as well as providing reports. Activities may include troubleshooting operating system and network issues, preparing problem reports, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, performance analysis, patch management and firmware evaluation, and assistance with scripting to accomplish system administration tasks.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:

Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus 6 years (or a Master's degree in a related field plus 4 years) of experience in Systems Administration; or 10 years of Systems Administration experience without a degree.
Expertise in administering Oracle/Sun enterprise hardware including Solaris administration and management, performance tuning Oracle/Sun systems, peripherals, products, and supporting related technologies.
Expertise in installation, patching, and supporting Unix environment.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 4:

Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus 10 years (or a Master's degree in a related field plus 8 years) of experience in Systems Administration; or 14 years of Systems Administration experience without a degree.
Expertise in administering Oracle/Sun enterprise hardware including Solaris administration and management, performance tuning Oracle/Sun systems, peripherals, products, and supporting related technologies.
Expertise in installation, patching, and supporting Unix environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to evaluate problems analytically and systematically and develop appropriate corrective action.
Ability to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer interface skills.
Solaris 10/11 administration experience.
Oracle Weblogic installation and configuration experience.
Oracle Database installation and configuration experience.
Oracle ASM experience.
NetApp experience.
