We are looking for you to join our team as a Software Engineering Manager 1 based out of Melbourne, FL.
What You'll get to Do:
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems for the Engineering and Sciences (E&S) Organization, seeks a Software Engineering Functional Manager within the Airborne Sensors and Network (AS&N) organization located in Melbourne, Florida. This position will support software and systems engineers developing critical software infracture, digitial signal processing, RaDAR integration and support, and SATCOM integration and support.
This position requires the candidate perform functional management activities as well as program development responsibilities. This position will report to the Department Manager/Engineering Site lead for the E&S Functional organization. It is expected that the functional management role will take 10% - 20% of the candidate's time. Candidate will be responsible for the management of an engineering group consisting of 8-15 software and/or system engineers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assessing staffing and de-staffing needs and interfacing with Human Resources as needed on behalf of their direct reports.
The manager will be responsible for recruitment activities including development of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers. The candidate will work with program and functional leadership in establishing personal program and functional goals, performing performance evaluations and merit increases, promotion and equity adjustments for direct reports. The candidate will provide their subordinates with career development recommendations, mentoring, technical support and discipline as required.
It is expected that the candidate will provide their group with regular flow down of company and organizational status and appropriately represent the Engineering and Sciences organization to their team.
Candidate also will work within the Functional E&S organization, CoEs and CoPs on strategic technology initiatives to ensure our engineers have the experience, process and tools to meet future technology and customer requirements from a process, tools and methodology perspective. The ideal candidate will provided best practices in system and software related development to support program execution. Apart from the challenging work this site performs on software and complex integration efforts, we are seeking leaders to support near term future transitions to cutting edge methodologies, tools and architectures. Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to collaborate in a team environment with engineers from other disciplines. Candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skill
This position may require working onsite at the Northrop Grumman Patrick Air Force Base facility throughout the work week.

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Computer Science/Engineering or related technical field) plus a minimum of five years' experience in software development applications with lead or management experience in a team environment
- Experience in Requirements Management and related tools such as DOORs.
- Familiarity with Northrop Grumman System/Software Development processes
- Familiarity with C/C++, Oracle, Linux
- Active/current Secret Clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI.
- Advanced degree in an Engineering Related area of study or Software/Computer Science.
- Publish/Subscribe Messaging Architecture
- Embedded Software Development
- Expert knowledge in C++ / Linux
- Agile Processes
- Familiarity with Digital Transformation concepts such as DevSecOps, (Continuous Integration, Automated Test) and Open Architecture Standards from both a software and hardware perspective
- Active/current Secret Clearance within the last 5 years or Top Secret/ SCI Clearance
