Software Engineer 2 or 3

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a software engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Bellevue, NE supporting United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) on the Global Adaptive Planning Collaborative Information Environment (GAP CIE) contract.

GAP CIE is a web-based, collaborative Joint Operation Planning (JOP) tool that supports distributed participants in multiple security enclaves. Engineers work as part of an empowered, cross-functional scrum teams responsible for creating high-quality products for USSTRATCOM.

The candidate must have experience in implementing and maintaining Java enterprise and JS solutions. The candidate should have experience with structured software development methodologies and modern software test tools and techniques. The candidate will work within a cross-functional Scrum team, and will be responsible for developing software, participating in acceptance criteria development, creating scripts and utilizing COTS tools to automate testing, documenting instructions the wiki, participating in integration activities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, design, develop, and test quality software for USSTRATCOM
  • Architect, automate, and tune network, operating system, and mid-tier system aspects
  • Work to empower a cross-functional team to deliver customer value across all aspects of the value stream

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance eligible
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and at least 2 years of experience in the Software/information technology industry
  • Experience communicating with customers, other technical teams, proactively identify and resolve issues, collect and refine requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and coordinate a product strategy
  • Ability to work on cross-function Scrum team focused on quality and capability delivery
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming)
  • Experience with Java and JavaScript development
  • Understanding of version control
  • Familiarity with Linux
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as Oracle
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts
  • Familiarity working with web services

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Modeling and Design, or related field and at least 5 years of experience in the Software/information technology industry
  • Experience communicating with customers, other technical teams, proactively identify and resolve issues, collect and refine requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and coordinate a product strategy
  • Ability to work on cross-function Scrum team focused on quality and capability delivery
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming)
  • Experience with Java and JavaScript development
  • Understanding of distributed version control
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery
  • Experience working with web services
  • Experience with Test automation practices
  • Familiarity with Secure software development practice

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with USSTRATCOM GAP CIE system
