Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Manager Level 3 based out of Redondo Beach, CA.

What You'll get to Do:
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks to fill a Manager Level 3 position in the Engineering and Sciences, Software and Digital Technologies organization for one of our largest Western Region Campuses for Software and Digital Technology. This position is a Department Manager (manager of managers and technical staff) at the Space Park site, in the Software and Digital Technologies (SWDT) organization. The managers that will report directly to the new Department Manager will generally be responsible for 10-15 technical staff members, along with their roles specific to program execution. The Department Manager role will have overall influence spanning approximately 175+ employees.

From an Enterprise level perspective, the Department Manager position is responsible for providing the people, processes, and tools required to meet the current and future needs of the programs and technologies within the NGMS portfolio. The role is expected to provide the technical and people leadership needed to establish and maintain a world class Software and Digital Technologies organization, supporting multiple divisions and programs across an incredibly diverse and advanced portfolio. This leader will support engineers and engineering leaders primarily located at the Space Park and El Segundo campuses in southern CA. The role will have overall responsibility for the development, design, implementation, application, training, and product support of state-of-the-art solutions in support of NGMS captures, programs of record, as well as research and technology development.

The Department Manager will also be responsible for insuring optimum program execution across a diverse program portfolio. Familiarity and advocacy for Software Performance based metric collection, along with close adherence to the eCOE sponsored Software Playbook, will be top priorities. There will also be an expectation that this role include development and execution of corrective actions required to improve program performance where appropriate, based on the trends and issues identified through the evaluation of the collected performance metrics.

Additionally, the responsibilities associated with this role will include providing functional oversight for 175+ technical staff members and managers across the Space Park and El Segundo campuses. There will be and expectation that the new department manager assume responsibility for facilitation and promotion of internal initiatives to enhance improved execution of our programs, including increased affordability, knowledge management and transfer, labor utilization, and other process improvement initiatives that would improve our execution efficiency across the NGMS portfolio here at Space Park and throughout the Western Region.

The position will champion consistency across the Software and Digital Technology disciplines, working closely with the Software and Digital Technologies counterparts both at the Space Park campus, and across the other Western Region sites in pursuit of opportunities to improve operating efficiency and to develop the most cost effective solutions possible.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 10 years of technical experience in any combination of Systems, Software/Firmware, Hardware, or Cyber engineering disciplines accompanied by high proficiency in technical problem solving to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development. Previous experience in People and Technical Leadership roles.
  • Working knowledge of Program Execution, Staffing, Engineering Metrics and Training resources, Processes, and Tools.
  • Must have proven technical management experience preferably in either program IPT, R&D or Advanced Systems, technology, and/or functional environments.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance or SCI Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Engineering or other STEM discipline and/or MBA degree.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Experience effectively leading diverse technical teams across multiple locations.
  • Experience as a technical leader and visionary with knowledge of ground station software systems and application development in support of Mission Management and Execution as it relates to both Space
  • Based and Airborne Fixed Wing platforms. Also, experience with Agile and DevOps processes as it relates to software development and production in support of these business areas would be desirable.
