Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Software Architect 3 or 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA's customers. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Works with the Agile teams and Solution Architecture Team to determine the best approach ensure the overall software architecture supports the project Concept of Operations
Supports all Agile teams to ensure effective end-to-end capability threads are being implemented, focused on meeting the expectations for upcoming PI Solution Demonstrations
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into software and infrastructure designs and specifications
Leads software design activities and provides critical contributions to software implementation, integration, and troubleshooting, including consideration for networking aspects
Provides technical consultation, training and support to IT staff as designated by project management or the customer
Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
The Software Architect reports to the System Team Manager; local travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4. BQs for a Software Architect 3 are Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field and 5 years of experience. BQs for a Software Architect 4 are Bachelor's Degree ina STEMfield and 9 years of experience.
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle including analysis, design, implementation, test, integration, and maintenance
Experience designing secure, scalable, and extensible software architectures using UML design tools
Experience developing applications, services, and systems using Agile and Scaled Agile methodologies
Experience with relational database systems
Experience developing Java-based systems/services using test-driven development methodology
Experience developing web applications deployed to clustered application servers
Minimum of 2 years' experience developing cloud-native container-based applications/services
Experience with application lifecycle tooling, including those related to agile project management, version control, continuous integration, code scanning, automated testing, and issue tracking
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with demonstrated experience. preparing concept papers, briefings, trade studies, proposals, and similar documents
Must have a current, active Secret (or higher) clearance. Interim clearance may be acceptable.
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
Experience migrating applications to commercial cloud services using IaaS and PaaS
Experience with Atlassian JIRA and Confluence
Experience with IBM Rational Collaborative Lifecycle Management
Experience with Java frameworks/technologies, including JPA, JTA, JMS, Hibernate, Spring Core, and Spring Boot
Experience with Microsoft .NET development
Experience with SonarQube, Fortify, and CAST
Experience with Git and Jenkins
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
Experience with DevOps and orchestration tools
