Shadow Operator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle 3 (Afghanistan)

Develops, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs for Company personnel, subcontractors and the customer related to operations of the Shadow UAS. Serves as a training facilitator responsible for instructing, testing and certifying qualified operators and students to include Emergency Procedures, Flight Logic, Map to Video Correlation, Simulator Flights, and Flight Line Operations. Prepares and presents platform and hands-on instruction, development of instructional materials, to include exams, remedial and supplemental materials. Provides feedback to the student verbally and in writing of the student's performance, grade the student's work in accordance with Government provided references, procedures, and forms. Possesses and maintains a Federal Aviation Administration Class III flight physical. Assists technical writers develop training lesson plans and materials. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities. Reviews and updates course content and objectives and makes changes when necessary. Maintains training records, participant progress, and program effectiveness. Conducts evaluations of qualified Shadow operators and students in training. Conducts research into new training, educational, and multimedia technologies. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. Maintain currency and proficiency in the Shadow UAS as well as maintain all requirements as defined in applicable in the most up to date version of DCMA 8210.1/AR95-20 and other Government manuals

Remotely operates unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) identified from ground control station or airborne platform and recovers vehicle. Plans and analyzes flight missions. Performs pre-flight, in-flight and post-flight checks and procedures. Stores and retrieves intelligence data using computer. May oversee and assist in air frame repair. Outstanding attention to detail. High degree of communication skills both written and verbal. Team organizer and facilitator. Ability to work with minimal to no supervision. Practice ISO 9001 principles and concepts. Basic Microsoft suite computer skills are required.

Physical Requirements:

Employee must be able to pass customer requirements for pre-deployment medical/dental screening. Must be able to lift 50lbs unassisted for short distances along with participating in a 4 person lift of 150lbs. Have the ability to work in small cramped spaces. This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. Ability to perform required job duties outdoors in conditions that may include extreme high and low temperatures, rain, snow, and high winds. This position will be subject to loud noises. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and taste and smell.

Basic Qualifications:

Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work/military experience.

  • Must be certified as a Shadow UAS System Instructor Operator and maintain currency IAW Defense Contracting Management Agency Instruction 8210.1/Army Regulation 95-20.
  • Maintains Directorate of Evaluations and Standards (DES) proficiency IAW current and future US Army regulations via "notice" and/or "no notice" written, oral and flight exams.
  • Must have and maintain a current Class II FAA Flight Physical.
  • May serve as on-site UAS AVO/MPO/IO in support of US Army requirements OCONUS if needed.
  • Safely and effectively perform the duties of an AVO/MPO/IO without supervision, including flight, ground equipment operator setup/maintenance and logs and records
  • Coordinate flight schedules, airspace, resources, frequency management and other aspects of flight operations.
  • Additional duties will include emplacement/displacement/inspection and replenishment of other associated ground equipment as well as proper notation of logbooks and flight records.
  • Secret Clearance required.

Preferred Qualifications:

5-8 years of directly related experience in the development and delivery of technical training programs as a Shadow UAS Instructor Operator is required. Manned aviation experience with minimum FAA private pilots certification highly desired.
