Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for aSeniorWire Design Engineerto join our Electronics& Payloads organization.This position is located in San Diego, CA and will be in support of our Tactical Autonomous Systems Programs.

As a Harness Design Engineeryou'llserve as aSubject Matter Expert inthe field of wire and harness design. You'll bedesigningwiring harnesses for complex ground and air systems as well as creating drawings forelectronic hardware subystems and ensuring the on-time release of all documents. You will work on a small team ofdesign engineers and will be given the opportunity to train and mentorjunior engineers.

Essential Functions:

  • Proactively work with other cross-functional groups such as air vehicle, ground segment, payloads, software, quality,production, and test.
  • Design harnesses capable of repetitive saltwater immersion.
  • Create and revise detailed drawings for harness, electrical schematics, interconnect, and rack mounted hardware.
  • Author and release technical documents.
  • Be able to work independently on assignments.
  • Conduct Make/Buy analysis for new equipment.
  • Perform Supplier Management tasks.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor™s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university
  • Must have at least9 years ofEngineering experience or 7 with a Master's in a STEM related field.
  • Experience as a Wire Designer
  • Ability to obtain andmaintain aSecret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • 9 years as a Wire Designer
  • Experience managing Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
  • Leadership experience such as tech lead or design lead
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Familiarity with FAA requirements
  • Experience training other employees
