Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems – Space Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Operations Manager, reporting to the local Site Director. The Systems Operations Manager leads a combined team of nearly 50 operators, systems experts, and discipline leads whose responsibilities include ensuring successful 24x7 mission operations of a complex system on the Rushmore program. This position is a hybrid role, consisting of direct support to a program and people management. This position is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Key functions include:

  • Responsibility for the cost, schedule, and technical performance of the team
  • Providing leadership and direction to team members, to include managing employee performance, staffing requirements, hiring, and training
  • Guide team members in developing and improving operations processes/products for on-site operations crew members, assisting with system problem/anomaly resolution support and thorough investigation and diagnosis of unexpected system signatures
  • Enterprise initiative implementation including affordability, efficiency, commonality and automation
  • Customer and enterprise coordination and execution of strategic planning activities
  • Provide status and technical information as required to the NG Site Lead and customer representatives

This position requires occasional domestic and international travel.

The candidate must positively interact with customers, subcontractors, other site contractors, Space Park management, and the factory to ensure successful program execution. The candidate will also ensure the Northrop Grumman team is positioned to adapt to evolving customer requirements. Candidate must promote and represent the Rushmore program enterprise approach (providing operations and engineering services that are common and interchangeable with other worldwide sites) within the site team. In addition, candidate must have strong team leadership and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships amongst diverse stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math field from an accredited institution
  • At least 8 years of experience managing or performing as part of a systems engineering, software engineering, systems operations, and/or systems maintenance team
  • At least 2 years of experience managing/leading a team
  • A current SCI and counter-intelligence polygraph

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math field from an accredited institution
  • At least 6 years managing/leading a team
  • Experience managing projects to cost, schedule, and performance requirements
  • Experience managing an 24x7 operations engineering & mission software applications support team
  • Experience on Atlantis, Rodeo, COAST, or associated development contracts
  • Experience as a functional manager
  • Experience leading large teams and proactively managing change without interrupting operations
