Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is looking for a Guidance, Navigation and Controls (GNC) Engineer at the Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellent (COE). Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Design, develop, implement, verify and test algorithms, software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control (GNC) of manned aircraft. Develop control laws to meet air vehicle performance, flying qualities and stability margin requirements, both on ground and in flight. Develop air vehicle system linear and non-linear dynamic simulation models and integrate models into software and hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments. Perform performance and flying qualities analysis. Support pilot-in-the-loop simulation handling qualities testing. Analyze air vehicle flight test data and support flight test activities.
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 9 years of experience or a Master's degree with 7 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience
MATLAB and/or Simulink programming skills
Experienced inPiloted Fixed Wing Aircraft Fly-by-Wireor Inner-loop control law design or comparable
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Experience designing and testing inner-loop control laws for piloted aircraft, running handling qualities evaluations with pilots and supporting flight test (including making control law updates based upon flight test findings)
Working knowledge of MIL-STD-1797 flying qualities requirements
Experience using linear control principles and tools to design feedback control systems
Experience analyzing non-linear simulations of aircraft dynamics
C/C++ Programming Skills
Active Secret clearance or higher
