Senior Director Integrated Digital Environment (Dir 2 Business Systems Integration)

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (NGAS) is currently seeking a Director of Business Systems Integration to join our team in El Segundo, CA!

A position that strategically plans and executes the business systems direction for the NG-AS Sector including building the NGIDE – NG Integrated Digital Environment that will become the backbone of driving our digital factory and product sustainment. This architecture will define/deliver the digital thread from Model Based Engineering through Sustainment - while supporting the building up a digital twin for meeting customer demands on electronic product management and tracking.

The BSI Director's responsibilities include: long-range roadmap planning, investment planning, resource staffing, application architecture planning (for ERP and NGIDE/CPLM), recurring user support, and full responsibility for all aspects of approved project performance (working w/the sector CIO and ES/CSO teams). Position reports to the Deputy Director of Enterprise Excellence, and Strategy.

Core to this role is the strategy around NGIDE – Northrop Grumman's Integrated Digital Environment. This strategy is developed and sustained out of this organization and is fundamental to the future information systems model needed to support the design and manufacturing of our products through digital models and collecting the digital information associated with the product through delivery to the customer, and beyond into sustainment. AS sector has a leadership position within NG to build out this set of applications across the ERP and PLM suite of systems to drive up quality and drive down hours to design and manufacture our products.

The BSI team manages a team of application knowledgeable personnel that supports the ERP, Operations, and CPLM (as it relates to NGIDE – NG Integrated Digital Environment) architectures within the AS sector. The team assures the architecture of applications is driven to the requirements of the sector and program's needs. They develop computer systems specifications that address business requirements and that fit with the company's system architecture standards. Additionally this team follows the ITIL model for application support as a Level 2 operation/organization – which entails managing end user issues, system architecture issues, data issues, training support, sector change management, interface integrity, system access, reporting analysis and support, design analysis of architecture, working with software suppliers on capability assessments, testing analysis for readiness, and supporting change board and projects initiatives.

The position has oversight of the IT Investment Portfolio process (working w/the Sector CIO) and executive governance structure. This requires generating opportunities for changing and building new capabilities based on program and functional needs, working on Corporate/Enterprise imitative in this domain, and then building business case plans to justify and rank the opportunities. Once developed, based on the sector annual funding constraints, sector goals, and enterprise objectives) the team assesses the priorities and develops an approval list to take to a executive steering committee for review and approval. This includes working w/the CFO and CFO staff around financial management and funding of the approved list of IT projects.

Additionally the organization has direct Project Oversight of all ERP and CPLM projects – which entails placing leadership on the projects and staffing the teams to work the effort (includes that staffing of ES/CSO and functional labor), and assessing ongoing performance.

The position performance will be assessed on the migration milestones (strategic objectives) of the NGIDE initiative, Portfolio Management, Approve Project Performance, User Application support metrics, and budget performance.

The NGAS sector is a sector that supports the design and manufacturing of structures and system for Aircraft and Satellite/Space programs. The Enterprise Excellence, and strategy organization is comprised of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Business Systems Integration, Make/Buy Planning, Strategic Planning, Sector Staffing Analysis, Operational Data Analytics, and Program Operating Models for the Sector.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science specifically in Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Business Systems
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in A&D around ERP and/or PLM applications, application support models, and functional operations (Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain) and engineering organizations.
  • Experience managing both projects and large organizations of at least 40 people
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access. U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance
