Propulsion Systems is recruiting for a Second Operator to join its team at the Bacchus (Magna), Utah facility.

Duties, Expectations and Essential Functions:

Primary assignment is in the Shipping area performing activities and tasks associated with handling and shipping rocket motors and components, motor disassembly, packaging, and motor storage inspections.

Area specific essential functions, responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

• Ability to learn the skills and demonstrate the aptitude to safely and efficiently perform rocket motor moves with cranes, air pallets, hand pallet jacks, and other powered equipment used in the area
• Perform safe and competent operation of all hand tools, powered tools, tooling, powered equipment, lifting equipment, overhead cranes and other equipment utilized in area
• Ability to safely operate equipment in areas with limited clearances and visibility
• As part of a handling team, demonstrate understanding and ability to safely perform spotting operations and execute directions of move director
• Physical ability to individually lift objects up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to perform all physical aspects of the job listed in the essential job functions, examples include but are not limited to repetitive climbing ladders, repetitive kneeling, bending and squatting, working on flatbed trailers, working in spaces with limited access etc.
• Ability to read, clearly interpret, and accurately follow procedures, standard work instructions, engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring all requirements are met
• Certify to and sustain all Quality Manufacturing-to-Inspect (MTI) requirements associated with the area
• Complete and sustain sound proficiencies in all required training, including skill based training
• Other duties as assigned by leadership

Second Operator essential functions and expectations include, but are not limited to:

• Assist the training of new and lower classification operators through on-the-job coaching and mentoring
• Effectively and constructively communicate with personnel including leadership, coworkers and support team members
• Participates in PES improvement activities, process/procedure improvements, standard work instructions and the global improvement of Operations
• Engage in and promote SIS activities, hazard abatements, OP-E, Take Two, etc.
• Demonstrate the initiative and ability to become knowledgeable and proficient in most area processes and support most levels of hands-on operations
• Work to enhance the safety, quality, cost and scheduling performance within the work area
• Other duties as assigned by leadership

Basic Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED (education will be verified).
• 3 years (or more) of previous experience
• Must be a US citizen.
• Able to acquire and maintain Employee Possessor (EP) status under the Safe Explosives Act (SEA).
• Currently possess or able to obtain a government security clearance.
• Must be able to work shift work, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prefer candidates with some post high school education.
• Able to wear a respirator and pass the FIT testing.
• Able to pass and maintain Manufacturing-To-Inspect (MTI) certifications.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments and assorted hand tools. - Able to work a physically demanding day (stand for long periods; work from your knees; ascend and descend ladders; lift, bend, twist, push and pull up to 50 lb, etc) while wearing protective equipment (respirator, coveralls, gloves, eye and ear protection, etc).
• Prefer experience with the safe handling of hazardous materials, operating industrial equipment such as cranes, forklifts and hand tools. Job function may require handling of live propellant related materials.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy - Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to work with others at all levels of the organization
• Ability to work independently and be a team player - Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
