SATCOM Engineer Systems 3

Northrop Grumman is seeking a motivated professional to join our Team as a SATCOM Systems Engineer 3. This position is located in Aberdeen, MD.

The selected candidate will support the CECOM SEC EISD SSMD mission which is to provide Life-Cycle Software Support for Mission Critical Defense Systems (MCDSs).

The CECOM SEC EISD SSMD mission is to provide Life-Cycle Software Support for Mission Critical Defense Systems (MCDSs). The EIS Directorates mission encompasses acquisition, Post Deployment Software Support (PDSS) and Post Production Software Support (PPSS) for Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Systems, with support for the facilities testbed of the same. This effort includes software technical support in the following areas: development, software and system engineering, acceptance testing, information security management, quality assurance, configuration management, replication and distribution, cost benefit analysis of future technology assessments, and interoperability testing. The facility support effort includes inventory management of the software development facilities resources; maintaining the equipment which resides in the facility, ensuring that the equipment is available and operational, testing the interoperability of the equipment, assisting with the procurement, tracking, and maintenance of software licenses; and providing administrative support as required in support of these efforts.

SSMD provides systems and software engineering support for Army Program Executive Officers (PEOs), Program Managers (PM), Product Developers (PD), Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA) and its components, and other Department of Defense (DoD) elements. The ultimate customer and consumer of the products and services is the Warfighter in the field.

SSMD supports the PM by providing the required software engineering management support, technical expertise, and professional guidance and assistance. For SATCOM MCDSs that have been deployed but remain under production, EISD provides PDSS to the PM, by providing acquisition software engineering support in the development, design, and implementation of software enhancements and corrections to software defects. After the SATCOM MCDS production is complete, the system enters the Post Production Software Support (PPSS) phase.

Duties include:

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or other Engineering or Technical discipline is required.
  • Must have 5 years of experience as a System Engineer or performing System Engineer related activities within the last 10 years with SATCOM domain.
  • Must possess a Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree is desirable.
