Quality Engineer 3- San Diego, CA
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Quality Engineer 3 to join the Mission Assurance team located in San Diego, CA.
This position will be located in San Diego, California Rancho Carmel campus, and will report into the Mission Assurance functional organization to support the F-35 contract. This opportunity allows hands on hardware experience with the production of the CNI systems of the F-35.
This position will be working closely with manufacturing and test engineers on the production floor as well as our customers. Job tasks range from reviewing product hardware, specifications and documentation, internal and external audits, inspection and root cause analysis of non-conformances, reporting discrepancies, and creating and reviewing first article inspections. Approximately 50% of the position will be spent helping to improve product quality in our classified labs using analysis and failure analysis skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
Collaborates with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other Engineering degree and 5 years of related experience in quality assurance OR a Master's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other Engineering degree, and 3 years of experience in quality assurance OR a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other Engineering degree, and 0 years of experience in quality assurance
Experience dealing with contract customers.
Must possess active secret DoD clearance.
Bachelor's Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other Engineering degree, and 7 years of experience in quality assurance OR a Master's Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other Engineering degree, and 7 years of experience in quality assurance
Experience working in manufacturing, design, or quality position.
Certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
Certified AS9100 Auditor
