Quality Engineer 1- San Diego, CA

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an early career Quality Engineer 1 to work at our Rancho Carmel campus in San Diego, CA. This position will work the second shift.

This position will support our Avionics and Tactical Networks (ATN) Operating Unit functional organization to support the F-35 contract.

The Quality Engineer will ensure compliance with all Mission Assurance related contractual requirements, division policies and procedures, while contributing to the projects' process implementation and process effectiveness.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Quality Engineer will work within integrated teams to analyze, control and improve product quality by conducting the following activities:

Systematically translate, analyze, and prioritize customer needs, legal and contractual requirements, and company policy and objectives into quality performance standards and operational definitions for the affected performing organizations.

Analyze/validate measurement system capability for accuracy, repeatability, reproducibility, and stability over time.

Analyze product performance using statistical methods to understand root cause, identify significant variances to predicted/targeted values.

Perform floor audits of production process, and procedures.

Optimize throughput and assure on-time delivery of products and services.

Predict quality of products/services, processes and other key work system elements using historical, empirical and/or theoretical data in operational and statistical models.

Assure clear identification, physical control and competent disposition of nonconformities.

Facilitate corrective actions, closed loop process controls and continuous improvement methods to improve product/process predictability and capability.

Manage the interface and sell-off of products to downstream operations or end-item customer quality representatives.


Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or other related Engineering degree.

Must possess 0-2 years of related quality work experience.

Must have good verbal and communication skills

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance and be able gain Special Program Access. US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active DOD secret clearance.

Experience in professional business environment and in leading small groups.

Experience in electronic manufacturing assembly.
