Public Relations Rep 3

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is seeking a Public Affairs/Public Relations Representative to join our team of qualified, highly engaged and enthusiastic communications professionals focused on the promotion and publicity of people and products at the company™s Autonomous Design Center of Excellence.

Qualified candidates should be prepared to thrive in a highly active environment that demands innovative thinking, ability to prioritize and use various tools to effectively communicate to employees, customers, the public, industry, local political and civic stakeholders and others. This position will be located in San Diego, California.

The ideal candidate will work with site leadership, state and local government relations, programs and other functionsto develop integrated strategic communications plans to support Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems leadership in autonomous systems.

Overall requirements include a proven track record in internal and external communications strategy and execution, message development and the ability to shape, plan and manage reporter relationships as well as social media strategies. The candidate must have excellent research and writing skills that demonstrate an ability to comprehend and explain advanced technologies.

Specific responsibilities include development of communications plans; site and division support through coordination with senior executives, managers and customers, local and civic leaders, and others; development and execution of statements, speeches, announcements; creation of content for scripts, website, print and multi-media collateral as needed for the site; relationship development skills for internal and external activities; development of other materials including press releases, announcements, videos; clearance of materials for public release; and support, planning and execution of employee and external events.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor™s degree and 6 years work experience in journalism, marketing, , communications, community relations, public relations/ public affairs
  • Ability to travelup to 10%
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a large, matrixed and/or geographically dispersed organization
  • Experience working for or with military, political/civic organizations, technology companies
  • Defense/aerospace-oriented expertise
  • Demonstrated experience with digital/social media and metrics
  • Demonstrated writing experience
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
