Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Project Reliability Engineer 3 within the SB Project Engineering & Planning organization located in Redondo Beach, CA.

Job responsibilities include

Project Reliability Engineer will guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of facilities systems and equipment.

Efforts include collaboration with project engineering in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans; Review of design drawings and product submittals; Leadership in the final check-out and approval of newly installed systems and equipment.

Performs failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) during project design and implementation phases to establish a reliability centered maintenance (RCM) plan for newly installed assets.

Collaborates with reliability engineering team to professionally and systematically define, design, develop, monitor and refine an asset maintenance plan to include value-added preventive maintenance tasks and effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems. Identifies failure trends and engineering solutions to repetitive facilities failures through application of root cause analysis (RCA), root cause failure analysis (RCFA), failure reporting, analysis and corrective action system (FRACAS) and data analysis techniques such as statistical process control, fault tree analysis, and six sigma methodology. Develops contingency plans and identifies critical spare parts, procurement lead times and solutions to mitigate duration and severity of equipment failure.

The position will additionally be responsible to apply value analysis to repair/replace decisions and provide technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
  • 5 years reliability and maintainability engineering experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Maximo experience
  • CMRP a plus
