Production Test Technician 1 - 2nd Shift
This is an entry level static load test technician position for 2nd shift.
The successful candidate will work side-by-side with an experienced test technician and learn to perform precision mechanical and electrical test set ups, followed by the execution of static load testing of space flight hardware.
Training will be conducted on 1st shift for 6 months but could run shorter or longer before transitioning to the permanent 2nd shift role.
9/80 work schedule is in effect
1st shift starts at 5am
2nd shift starts at 1pm
Test setups include:
•Mechanical assembly of load application and restraint mechanisms and structure;
•Installation of test instrumentation for force, strain, and deflection;
•Execution of test per exacting procedures and requirements
•Documentation and report out
•High mechanical and electrical aptitude to learn / build test setups with instrumentation.
•Strong math and science aptitude to learn fundamentals of static load engineering - including force, stress, strain, modulus and inertia.
•Proficiency in computer operation and use of typical word processing and data programs.
•Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and follow written procedures.
•Demonstrated high degree of self-discipline to follow policies and procedures.
•Ability to read, write and interpret written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawings in English.
•Good documentation, organization and communication skills.
•Ability to multitask, and prioritize work.
•Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic.
•Strong attention to detail.
•Demonstrates initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and highly motivated for excellence.
•Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement with a focus on customer service excellence.
•Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as needed based on demanding manufacturing schedules.
•Ability to work under limited supervision.
•Excels in a team environment.
•Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
•Must be able to work at heights exceeding 20 feet and/or in confined spaces performing mechanical assembly / disassembly.
•Ability to be on feet for up to 9 hours each day.
•Associate's Degree or a 2 year Technical Degree in related discipline; a High School Diploma and an additional 2 years of relevant work experience can be considered in lieu of degree
•0-2 years' experience in a mechanical or electrical vocation.
•US Citizenship required
•Prior personal or vocational experience with mechanical tools, torque wrenches, drilling, tapping, and metal cutting and finishing.
•Prior experience with crane and fork lift operation.
•Prior experience in aerospace and/or composite manufacturing.
•Prior experience with testing and/or instrumentation.
