Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems located in Emerado, ND has an opening for a Product Trainer 4 (GSMP MCS Maintainer/Instructor).

Position Summary / Responsibilities

The Global Hawk Ground Segment Modernization Program (GSMP) Mission Control Segment (MCS) Maintainer/Instructor plans, acts as a subject matter expert as a Network Administrator, develops, and coordinates in-house product training programs for field support personnel and customers. Working closely with Engineering and other teams, obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs; prepares training materials; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. May utilize trainers with technical expertise. Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date. Verifiable stand-up, lab, and simulation instruction time required.


The selected candidate will perform duties as a Maintenance Trainer/Ground Segment Network Administrator Subject Matter Expert at the Grand Sky Facility, adjacent to Grand Forks AFB. Responsibilities include development and authoring of highly technical training products for U.S. Services and other Unmanned Aerial Systems customers. The selected candidate will develop training plans and provide instruction on Global Hawk Block 30/40 platforms. The selected candidate should have knowledge and experience of ground segment systems to include configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktop systems and applications, servers and server based applications. Additionally, the candidate should be able to configure and manage firewalls and installation of ground segment system assets supporting RQ-4 Global Hawk missions. The selected candidate should be familiar with PC hardware and software, RF communication links, satellites, and Ethernet based networking configuration down to the component level.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/BA with 10 or more years of UAV Ground Segment military aircraft experience or a MA/MS BA with 8 or more years of UAV Ground Segment military aircraft experience.
  • Formal training and certification as a Network Administrator (ex. CCNA, A , Nework , MCSA)
  • Completion of a military or civilian Instructor Training Program. (BIC/TTC/9502)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous aviation related electronic courseware development using an LCMS/LMS electronic authoring environment desired.
  • Military training system and/or Instructional Systems Design experience desired.
  • U.S. Air Force Master Instructor or U.S. Navy/USMC Master Training Specialist designation highly desired
  • Final candidates may be required to demonstrate instructional ability and technique delivering a familiar 20 minute lesson of choice.
