Northrop Grumman Marine Systems, a historical campus in Sunnyvale, CA, specializes in the development, manufacturing, assembly and testing of missile launching and handling systems, propulsion and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines. Our products are built nowhere else in the country. We are seeking a Principal or Senior PrincipalEngineer Mechanical Capsule Launcher to join our team. This individual will design and support missile launching systems for submarines. The ideal candidate is hands-on, imaginative, and enjoys solving problems through research and analysis.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Design of missile launching, handling and test equipment using solid modeling tools
  • Conduct first order structural, kinematic analysis to support equipment design
  • Select and evaluate materials suitable for underwater missile launching systems
  • Provide test program support
  • Provide technical fleet support for the existing Trident Launcher System
  • Participate in the generation and revision of engineering drawings and models
  • Participate in the resolution of technical issues related to fleet hardware issues.
Approximately 10% travel to field sites may be required.

SNYVLCA
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Mechanical Engineer
  • Bachelors in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5+ years of relevant work experience; or Mastersdegree in a STEM discipline and 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • 2+ years of machine design experience
  • Proficiency creating first order structural analysis
  • Proficiency with GD&T and Tolerance Analysis
  • CAD modeling experience (NX or CREO preferred)
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD secret clearance
Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer
  • Bachelors in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 9+ years of relevant work experience; or Mastersdegree in a STEM discipline and 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of machine design experience
  • Proficiency creating first order structural analysis
  • Proficiency with GD&T and Tolerance Analysis
  • CAD modeling experience (NX or CREO preferred)
  • Experience leading small teams
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD secret clearance
