Principal/Sr. Principal Supplier Quality Engineer

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. This position will support the International Battle Management (IBM) Operating Unit with focus on Suppliers that support the WILSA Poland IBCS Program.

The selected candidate will perform the following:

  • Work with the Program based Global Supplier Chain group to manage key suppliers, ensuring that suppliers are performing well and drive process improvements while ensuring their capacity and capability to deliver acceptable products to specifications and on time
  • Responsible for ensuring that proper supplier and procurement flow-down clauses are applied to Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders as per for program requirements
  • Assures that customer and program quality imposed technical requirements are adhered to by suppliers and that program required quality systems are maintained
  • Effectively perform supplier surveillance activities designed to manage, monitor, and improve supplier performance
  • Establish positive working relationships with program suppliers and program IPT leads
  • Perform process and product audits along capacity assessments to ensure that supplier's processes are robust and capable
  • Work with program supplier base on preventing/minimizing any business impact from supplied material defects and work to limit supplier risk mitigation issues
  • Perform and/or coordinate specification compliance reviews, first article inspections, and source inspections as required
  • Initiate Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCARs) and work with suppliers, manufacturing, and engineering personnel to identify root causes and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented
  • Lead and report on Supplier Performance Management activities by analyzing system based supplier performance data and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Proactively work to reduce and prevent supplier material defect occurrences and verification of supplied material defect claims
  • Perform deviation investigations into quality supplier issues that may require using a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation to ensure that robust corrective actions are implemented
  • Perform risk-based supplier assessments in the Northrop Grumman Quality Assessment Framework (QAF) tool
  • Assess and support program Supplier Scorecard metrics

Basic Qualifications for Principal Level :
  • Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited University in a related STEM field
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience dealing with suppliers
  • Experience developing, collecting, and analyzing metrics
  • Experience in root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Presentation and data packaging skills
  • Basic SAP knowledge
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time
  • Holds Interim Secret or Active Secret DOD Secret Clearance (US Citizenship required)

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Level :
  • Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited University in a related STEM field
  • 9+ years of relevant industry experience dealing with suppliers
  • Experience developing, collecting, and analyzing metrics
  • Experience in root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • SAP usage
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time
  • Presentation and data packaging skills
  • Holds Interim Secret or Active Secret DOD Secret Clearance (US Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration for both level positions:
  • SAP expertise
  • ISO 9001, T9001B, and/or AS9100 trained auditor
  • Advanced Excel / Power Point Skills
  • Good Understanding of specific NGMS Supplier Management Policies and Procedures
  • ASQ Certified Supplier Quality Professional
  • Ability to Speak Polish a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • Active DOD Security Clearance
