Principal/Sr. Principal Engineer Quality

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Program Quality Engineer 3/4 to join our team and be based out of our site in Baltimore, MD. This position will require some travel, up to 25% of the time. An active TS/SCI is required at time of start.

The Program Quality Engineer 3/4 develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

May specialize in the areas of design, integration and test, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Level:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience with the design, manufacture, test, inspection, qualification and delivery of hardware which meets contractual requirements (3+ years with a Masters; 0+ years with PhD)
  • Active TS/SSBI Clearance, with ability to obtain a SCI.

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office product, especially Powerpoint and Excel

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Level:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 9+ years of experience with the design, manufacture, test, inspection, qualification and delivery of hardware which meets contractual requirements (7+ years with a Masters; 4+ years with PhD)
  • Active TS/SSBI Clearance with the ability to obtain a SCI.

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office product, especially Powerpoint and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office product, especially Powerpoint and Excel
  • Familiarity/working knowledge of SAP
  • Experience with the design, manufacture, test, qualification and delivery of Space Flight hardware which meets contractual requirements
  • Basis-of-Estimate creation/proposal experience
  • Verification/flow down of Quality Assurance requirements to vendors
