The Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) program delivers timely, reliable and accurate missile warning and infrared surveillance information to key decision makers. The system enhances global missile launch detection capability, supports the nation's ballistic missile defense system, expands the country's technical intelligence gathering capacity and bolsters situational awareness for warfighters on the battlefield. The SBIRS architecture includes a resilient mix of satellites in geosynchronous earth orbit (GEO), hosted payloads in HEO orbit, and ground hardware and software. The integrated system provides robust performance with global, persistent coverage. Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector, Strategic Space Systems Division in Azusa CA, is in need of qualified principal system engineers level 3 with an emphasis in flight data analysis. Candidate should have demonstrated experience with performing on a highly technical team of analysts in a dynamic and fast paced environment, demonstrated ability of taking on challenging technical assignments, as well as ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Candidate should possess strong analytical and problem solving skills. System tasks include running mission playbacks, processing and analyzing mission data, utilizing the performance analysis Oracle database, and maintaining html resource webpages. The Ca Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field & 5 years of engineering experience in flight data analysis, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field & 3 years of engineering experience in flight data analysis - Active DoD Secret Clearance (Interim OK) Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with OPIR mission processing, especially DSP or SBIRS constellations and have a working knowledge of space phenomenology and orbital mechanics. - Practical experience with Windows, UNIX, and LINUX Operating systems and work stations - Active TS/SCI Clearance Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
