Principal System Safety Engineer

The position requires fluency with MIL-STD-882 and RTCA DO-178/254 and other applicable Hardware and Software Safety standards/guidelines. The Principal System Safety Engineer reviews product systems, associated support equipment and facilities, functional specifications and operations, and establishes safety requirements for assigned systems. The Principal System Safety Engineer independently analyzes and recommends safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards and develops safety documents as required to support customer and test/operational range requirements. In addition, the Principal System Safety Engineer performs audits of operational areas and reports effectiveness of system safety program, as well as, participates in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions. The Principal System Safety Engineer evaluates the interrelationship of system safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and development requirements to ensure the most cost effective program and m ust be able to support multiple programs effectively and efficiently to ensure their respective success (safe, on time, and on schedule).
* Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with 5 Years of experience, 3 Years of experience with a Masters Degree or 0 Years experience with a PhD
* Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance
* Active Secret or above clearance
* Knowledge of radar products is preferred and experience in SW Safety, Range Safety and accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities is highly desirable
