Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (Integration & Test)

The Northrop Grumman Undersea Systems business unit in Annapolis, MD is seeking system engineers with Integration & Test (I&T) experience to join the Systems Engineering team. The individual will support complex, dynamic maritime programs of strategic importance to our classified business area and National Defense. Our desired candidate would be a well-rounded Systems Engineer focused on integration and test with the ability to perform in any SE role or phase of a program. The role requires close teamwork across functional disciplines and (Integrated Product Teams) IPTs in a fast paced environment. This program area is expanding which offers the potential for future growth opportunities (test lead, technical lead, IPT, etc.). The roles and responsibilities include:
Develop comprehensive test plans, write detailed test procedures, coordinate and participate in integration and test activities, diagnose and trouble-shoot test anomalies, complete test data analysis, and write concise and clear test reports.
Support collection of Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) and signoff of requirements during tests and demonstrations
Perform additional Systems Engineering functions beyond the I&T focus as necessary

Experience or familiarity is preferred, but not required in the following engineering areas:
Underwater/naval systems and maritime domain
Seabed warfare
Underwater mechanical structures and cabling
Submarine or maritime platform payloads
Working with Navy customers and Navy tactics
Torpedoes and anti-submarine warfare
Towed vehicles and Launch & Recovery (L&R) systems
Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV)
Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs)
Maritime sensors (Navigation, SONAR, surveillance, etc.)

Basic Qualifications for a level 3:
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM related field for a Band 3 Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD; equivalent combination of experience and education will be accepted.
An active Top Secret/SCI clearance with the ability to pass a polygraph.
Previous experience in design/development, integration, or testing on a complex deliverable/fielded system.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with multiple diverse IPTs.
Understanding of the Systems Engineering program life cycle phases (requirements, architecture, implementation, integration, verification, and validation)

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM related field for a Band 4 Engineer: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD; equivalent combination of experience and education will be accepted.

Previous experience in design/development, integration, or testing on a complex deliverable/fielded system.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with multiple diverse IPTs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in a STEM related field.
Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance with active polygraph within 5 years.
Well-rounded Systems Engineer; ability to perform in any SE role/phase of a program.
Experience or familiarity in one of the specific preferred engineering areas listed above.
Experience with design, integration, and test on a complex deliverable/fielded system.
Experience in multiple phases of the Systems Engineering program life cycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, integration, verification, and validation).
Experience with all levels and types of tests including environmental stress screening (ESS) tests, hardware-in-the-loop tests, software-in-the-loop tests, factory acceptance tests, qualification tests, or operational field test.
Experience with test anomalies and Discrepancy Reports (DRs) in support of the Failure Reporting And Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
