Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is actively hiring Microelectronics Design Tool Development Engineer for the Cyber & Intelligence Mission Solutions (CIMS) Organization. The position is located at the Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - just outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor and superconducting products for internal and commercial production as well as emerging programs. At Northrop Grumman our Microelectronics Design Tool Development Engineers enjoy working on a variety of assignments across a broad range of topics and varying complexity. The Microelectronics Design Tool Development Engineer will help lead the development of software tools and developing tool flow methodologies that will be integral to microelectronics design and validation processes. These tools will work independently and integrate with existing commercial tools, custom-engineered scripts and custom EDA tools. He/she will also work closely with designers, developers, and physicists to understand requirements and provide the appropriate support to help the team accomplish assigned goals and tasks. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Develop and maintain innovative RQL (Reciprocal Quantum Logic) -specific stand-alone and integrated design tools using C, C++, Python, Perl Develop and maintain scripts written in SKILL, Python, Linux Shell, etc. Participate in and lead code reviews Develop test plans, robust regression suites, and release methodologies Collaborate with physicists, circuit designers and CAD/PDK engineers on design, development and improvements Interface with EDA tool vendors to resolve bugs, improve usability, maintain industry standards for optimal integration within an automated tool flow Participate in Agile project management work flows, along with established tool development processes, to drive projects to the finish line This position can be filled at a Principal Microelectronics Design Tool Development Engineer OR a Sr. Principal Microelectronics Design Tool Development Engineer. Qualifications for both are listed below:
Basic qualifications for a Principal Microelectronics Design Tool Development Engineer: Bachelor's Degree in STEM related field and 5 years of related experience; 3 years with Masters Proven, successful work history of EDA tool development using C/C++, object-oriented programming, Python Strong analysis, design and problem solving skills Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance. U.S. Citizenship is a pre-requisite of this. Basic qualifications for a Sr. Principal Microelectronics Design Tool Development Engineer: Bachelor's Degree in STEM related field and 9 years of related experience; 7 years with Masters; 4 with PhD Proven, successful work history of EDA tool development using C/C++, object-oriented programming, Python Strong analysis, design and problem solving skills Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance. U.S. Citizenship is a pre-requisite of this. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with DevOps and Continuous Integration Pipelines Experience with developing or using robust software regression and release methodologies Familiarity with EDA standards used in cell/library development and modeling - Liberty, LEF (library exchange format), DEF (design exchange format), OA (OpenAccess) Proficiency with SKILL, Perl, Unix shell scripting Experience interfacing with engineers and managers to provide schedule updates, work estimations and development roadmaps Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Level ClearanceNorthrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
