Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for advanced opto-mechanical, electro-optic and other optic/optical R&D, design creation/modeling and prototyping; will provide solutions to a variety of complex technical design problems; conceive technical design solutions, conceive, create and design system models, determine and perform required analysis, including FEA, detailed assembly drawings and parts lists in accordance with ANSI and in house drawing standards, as well as coordinate with Purchasing to expedite the delivery of system components, hands-on prototype assembly and writing assembly specifications.
Active TS/SCI Security Clearance is required
Requires BS in Mechanical Engineering and w/8+ years of combined relatable experience OR Master's w/5yrs of combined relatable experience
Must have experience and strong desire for hands-on design/prototyping of precision small form factor mechanisms
Hands-on design creation/modeling and prototyping; provide solutions to a variety of complex technical design problems; conceive technical design solutions, create/design system models, determine and perform required analysis
Experience working in a design for manufacturing environment
Advanced Solidworks skills (or similar 3D modeling CAD software)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability to work independently as well as in a multi-disciplined engineering team environment
MS in Mechanical Engineering
Experience working in a Defense/DoD, Government contract design, and manufacturing environment
