Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is looking for a Guidance, Navigation and Controls (GNC) Engineer at the Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellent (COE). Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Design, develop, implement, verify and test algorithms, software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control (GNC) of manned aircraft. Develop control laws to meet air vehicle performance, flying qualities and stability margin requirements, both on ground and in flight. Develop air vehicle system linear and non-linear dynamic simulation models and integrate models into software and hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments. Perform performance and flying qualities analysis. Support pilot-in-the-loop simulation handling qualities testing. Analyze air vehicle flight test data and support flight test activities.
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 5 years' experience, Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 3 years' experience
Experience in aircraft control law development and test during multiple programs
MATLAB/Simulink programming skills
Active / in-scope DoD Secret Clearance
Experience designing control laws for piloted fixed wing aircraft, performing handling qualities analyses, and pilot-in-loop evaluations
Working knowledge of MIL-STD-1797 flying qualities requirements
Experience using linear control principles and tools to design feedback control systems
Experience analyzing non-linear simulations of aircraft dynamics
Excellent communications, analysis, and problem solving skills
C/C++ Programming Skills
