Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support our San Diego CA CoE!
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware, Built in Test (BIT), and software specifications.
Candidate should have previous experience performing Engineering Analysis and will be expected to support and conduct Failure Review Boards (FRBs) in support of Failure Review and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS), including analysis of failure data to identify and assign failure modes, root cause, and corrective actions as well as work with design engineering to Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), and other Reliability and Maintainability metrics..
Candidate should be familiar with Reliability Allocations and Predictions development; Failure Mode Effects Criticality Analyses (FMECAs); Fault Tree Analyses (FTAs); Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs); Design Influence; and Reliability Growth analysis.
Candidate should be able to identify different ways a part can fail and the associated conditions or symptoms based on Engineering data, as well as the potential subsystem and system level impacts of that failure.
Candidate should be able diagnosis hardware deficiencies and identify root cause and corrective actions to address such deficiencies and their potential impact to the system and subsystem in terms of performance and functionality.
Candidate should also include quantifying the effectiveness of fixes identified and evaluating possible alternatives. This will also entail presenting and briefing this analysis to review boards and coordinating with program management and Customer counterparts.
Job also entails the performing of quantitative and qualitative analytical analyses and requires excellent communication and teamwork skills and the ability to quickly adapt and synthesize new information, processes, and data for tasks.
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 5 years of applied engineering experience or 3 years with a Master's Degree
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD Clearance
Familiarity with and/or previous experience performing FRACAS, FMECAs, RBDs, and/or FTAs
Master's Degree in a STEM field
Current and active Secret DoD clearance
