Roles and Responsibilities:

Support defining the DLP Enterprise Functional Requirements and Use Cases and develop a formalized DLP Program Governance Structure, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities that align with the DLP Technical Requirements for the four (4) protection areas of: Endpoint, Cloud, Network, and Storage.
Ensure the DLP Functional Requirements and Use Cases are in alignment with VA Enterprise Security Architecture Directives, Standards, Security Patterns and Implementation Guidelines to ensure a comprehensive system solution is implemented.
Support the development of a DLP Framework Strategy Policy to include the following:
- Discover, identify and prioritize confidential data (e.g. High Value Assets HVA)
- Categorize (classify and mark) the data
- Understand when data is at risk
- Monitor all data movement (including exfiltration)
- Communicate and develop controls
Provide specialized cybersecurity technical review expertise to introduce new and emerging concepts in order to define a robust and modernized system-level DLP environment that addresses evolving privacy and security risks.
Designs, develops, and recommends security systems that will ensure data is protected and loss prevented.
Support for incorporatng new concepts to the system-level Email Security Appliance (ESA) that adequately address security risks in digital technologies, including but not restricted to cloud, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), Internet of Things (IoT), Operational Technology (OT), Analytics, and Continuous Diagnosis and Mitigation (CDM).
Support providing specialized cybersecurity skillsets to incorporate new security architecture concepts to adequately address the changing security risk landscape including, but not restricted to, data- level security, Zero Trust (ZT) security, security automation, and the use of analytics in the cybersecurity domain.
Provide support for measurement against key metrics of Network and Enterprise operations, and gap analysis related to DLP Network implementation.
Install, maintain, support and diagnose network based DLP platforms within the VA environment
Identify gaps in existing DLP security capabilities and recommend solutions to close the gaps.
Plans, supports and evaluates complex existing network systems and make recommendations for resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels.
Provide highly skilled technical assistance in network planning, engineering and architecture.
Provides and develops technical standards and interface applications; identifies and evaluates new products; provide solutions for network problems.
Interfaces with internal/external customers and vendors to determine system needs.
Plans and incorporates how new network resources and applications will exist on the network.
Provide monthly metrics for network availability and bandwidth usage as well as other metrics as requested. Responsible for network capacity planning.
Use network management tools to discover, map and maintain the network.
Responsible for network equipment OS and version upgrades.
Responsible for conducting research of new technologies and implementation strategies.
Monitor and maintain network interfaces to insure its highest level of performance and makes modifications and enhancements as needed.
Responsible for documenting procedures and keeping network diagrams and related material up to date.
Work with other groups within IS to resolve network related issues as needed.
Conducts testing of network design.
Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, and gateways.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Science and 5 years relevant experience.
Able to work in a team environment and be proficient in MS Office applications, including Word and Excel.
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to prioritize and multitask
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance (Veterans Affairs High Security Investigation)
Understanding Agile (SCRUM and/or Kanban)
Experience with best practices for Cyber Security in relation to Data Loss Prevention

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of VA culture, mission, and IT environment
Microsoft SharePoint experience
Experience working in the Federal space
ISO/CMMI experience
