Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
Candidate shall possess a general electrical engineering background and an understanding of analog and digital electronics. This position requires basic knowledge of electrical and electronic system design. Candidate shall possess the skills needed to write electrical test procedures and review electrical test data to ensure that hardware is tested properly and passes all tests. Applicant should be familiar with using oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, digital multi-meters, data recorders, and other electrical test equipment. Duties will require daily contact with space launch vehicle hardware and solid rocket motors. Candidate will be responsible for assisting senior staff in the final system-level integration and test of air launched and ground launched target vehicles. Under guidance of senior staff, specific duties may include: contribute to the development of detailed work instructions, processes and procedures directing the test of launch vehicle systems; coordinate test activities and schedules with operations supervisors, program engineers and various customer organizations; document hardware defects and test anomalies, and develop and implement robust and effective corrective actions; identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and participate in implementation; support launch operations, as required. Candidate will become a test conductor and will conduct vehicle level testing included but not limited to Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and Air Launch Equipment (ALE) checkout, flight hardware battery charging, vehicle safe to mate testing, software loads, RF system checkout, basic vehicle electrical testing, ordnance sequence testing, Nozzle Steering and Actuator Control System (ACS) testing, Flight Termination System (FTS) checkout, and missile simulation testing. Applicant will be required to show strong leadership and decision making skills and will be working with flight hardware on a daily basis. Candidate will be responsible for directing electrical technicians to support flight hardware testing. Applicant needs to have experience troubleshooting electrical ground support equipment and flight hardware. Ability to write in clear technical terms, and good interpersonal skills required as well as the ability to communicate with engineers from various backgrounds. Knowledge of standard PC application software is required. Occasional business travel may be required.
