Northrop Grumman is looking for a highly-motivated and experienced Principal Database Administrator to join our Suffolk, VA STRAP team supporting our US. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) customer. The selected individual will implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases, conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases in general, review database design and integration of systems, provide backup recovery and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements, and maintain security and integrity controls.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Design and deploy SQL server hosting a minimum of three databases.
Provide support for Windows Server and SQL Server physical and virtual instances. (This may include advanced troubleshooting and server restart)
Plan and implement new SQL Server instances, patching, and automation efforts for SQL Server and Windows Server.
Maintain and support security policies.
Respond to vulnerability questions, issues, and audit findings.
Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
Provide backup and recovery services.
Develop stored procedures and/or triggers.
Manage file systems and disk space and virus protection on routine basis.
Formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitor transaction activity and utilization.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6+ years of relevant work experience. (OR an Associate's degree with at least 8+ years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, OR an additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree requirement for a combined 10 years or moreof total related work experience with a High school diploma).
Experience with SQL Server deployments and management.
Advanced experience with SQL Server patching, monitoring and automation tools.
Must have knowledge of industry practices and standards for SQL databases.
Firm understanding of advanced relational database concepts such as logging, recovery, database structures, and security.
Must possess or be able to obtain a favorable adjudicated CBP Background Investigation (BI).
Must have or be Able to obtain a favorable adjudicated DoD SECRET security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Structured Query Language (SQL) server certification.
Security+ certification
Experience implementing DISA STIGs.
Familiarity with XML, API and KML.
Experience using INFOR Enterprise Asset Management system.
