Physicist (level 3/4)

The Advanced Concepts and Technologies group of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Physicists.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Transformational Technology Business Area within the Advanced Concepts and Technologies (AC&T) organization. Transformational Technology is focused on developing state-of-the-art next generation superconducting electronics (SCE) and advanced computing technologies.

Qualified Physicists will have experience with some of the following: superconducting tunnel junction fabrication/characterization, transport phenomena, solid-state qubit operation, microwave engineering, low-temperature experiments, quantum mechanics, RSFQ, superconducting fabrication, superconducting circuit design, measurement of superconducting circuits, quantum computing, digital logic design/development, and superconducting electronics.

This requisition may be filled at a level 3 or a level 4 depending on the qualifications below. ACandT

Basic Qualifications for a level 3:

  • *Must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline (or will complete by September 2017)
  • *Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance (US citizenship required)
  • *Experience in one or more of the following: superconducting tunnel junction fabrication/characterization, transport phenomena, solid-state qubit operation, microwave engineering, low-temperature experiments, quantum mechanics,

RSFQ, superconducting fabrication, superconducting circuit design, measurement of superconducting circuits, quantum computing, digital logic design/development, or superconducting electronics

Basic Qualifications for a level 4:

  • *Must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline plus at least 4 years of relevant experience
  • *Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance (US citizenship required)
  • *Experience in one or more of the following: superconducting tunnel junction fabrication/characterization, transport phenomena, solid-state qubit operation, microwave engineering, low-temperature experiments, quantum mechanics,

RSFQ, superconducting fabrication, superconducting circuit design, measurement of superconducting circuits, quantum computing, digital logic design/development, or superconducting electronics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • *Familiarity with decoherence mechanisms, physics based simulation, analog and digital electronics, computer simulations, dilution refrigerator operation desired
  • *Experience with RSFQ, memory, Cadence, mask layout, multilevel

circuit design, design verification and superconducting fabrication desired

  • *Familiarity with superconducting qubits, quantum computing, and classical computer science desired
