PC Network Support Tech 3

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a PC Network Support Technician 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Fairmont, WV.

Join us on the edge… The Cutting Edge! The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman’s leading biometric solution for the Department of Defense. Some local travel may be required. The PC Technician will report to the Infrastructure Engineering Manager to maintain network and system performance on a multi-user computing system. Some on call or after hours support may be required. Will require employee to obtain and maintain security and industry certifications. There are no provisions for relocation. All candidates must be local to the Fairmont, WV commuting area or be willing to relocate at his/her expense.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Administration, deployment, and maintenance of workstations

Apply patches and updates to infrastructure components during maintenance releases as required

Administration and maintenance of Windows OS and or Linux OS including patching and install of COTS software

  • Administration and maintenance of virtual desktop integration (VDI) workstations
  • Applying, auditing and maintaining all office workstations with current anti-virus and intrusion protection
  • Detect, diagnose, and resolve system issues
  • Troubleshoot OS or COTS software issues
  • Work with engineering team to resolve security issues on office workstations
  • Clearly document and track system problems as well as produce system data and observations for engineering as required
  • Sets up administrator and service accounts, installs system-wide software and allocates mass storage space
  • Repair and maintenance of other government office equipment including printers
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or similar technical-related field with 3 years of related experience. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
  • Basic knowledge of hardware and software architecture
  • Experience with VDI
  • Experience with Microsoft and/or Linux OS
  • Experience with technical security implementation
  • Must possess the requirements of DoD 8570.01 IAT Level I (ie. A CE, Network CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security) or be willing and capable of obtaining within 180 days of hire with or without reimbursement
  • Good planning, time management and organization skills and the ability to document work performed effectively
  • Must be a US Citizen and willing to obtain DoD Secret Clearance

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

Working knowledge of networking concepts

  • Experience with Defense Information Systems Agency Security Technical Implementation Guide (DISA STIG)
  • Security
  • VMWare Certification
  • RHCSA Certification
  • MCSA Certification
