Operations Group X-Ray SDD Interagency, Intergovernmental, Multinational / Unified Action Partner (IIM/UAP) Subject Matter Expert (IA SME)

Scenario Design Division (SDD) exercise support staff for simulation driven command post exercises to train Brigade, Division and Corps Commanders and their staffs during Warfighter exercises. The interagency (IA) team assists Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) staff and the Training Audiences (TA) by developing IA scenarios. The IA SME provides training for MCTP Operations staff and part-time, contracted Subject Matter Experts (SME). In conjunction with the Interagency Program Coordinator, supervises the IIM/UAP operations and training program. During exercises, plays roles as necessary to enhance the replicated battlefield complexities and enhance training. This position develops appropriate scenarios and scripts for IIM-UAP coordination during Phases II, III, and IV of a campaign. The IA SME must be able to connect to U.S. Government (USG) Departments and Agencies to coordinate information flow and potential support to exercise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares exercise scenario plan of IA storylines and JMSELs injects to meet training audience training objectives.

  2. Responsible for overseeing daily operations of the IA Coordinator and SSRP Coordinator.

  3. Prepares and conducts After Action Reviews and prepares After Action Reports in conjunction with MCTP personnel.

  4. Supports the preparation of SMEs and role players by conducting research to develop pertinent biographical and Operational Environment (OE) information and develop SME/role player background sheets.

  5. Participates in the training as a member of an Embassy Country Team staff or other IIM/UAP organization, including serving as Observer Coach/Trainer (OC/T) as required.

  6. Communicates with IIM/UAP organizations in the National Capital Region (vicinity of the District of Columbia) and in relevant Theaters of operation in order to stay current on operational issues, techniques and procedures and to coordinate IA/UAP activities in support of MCTP exercises.

  7. May deploy to various countries, as required, in support of U.S. military operations.

  8. IA SME, in conjunction with the Role Player/SME Manager, supervises the IIM/UAP operations and training program for the contract team.

Basic Qualifications: a. Must have extensive management-level Department of State (DOS) (or other relevant Department or Agency) field experience or equivalent, in Iraq or Afghanistan or other contingency operation area to assist MCTP Operations staff and the TAs in the development of scenarios.

b. Must have demonstrated ability to lead teams and organizations.

c. Highly proficient with MS Office suite of software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

d. Bachelor's Degree – 10 Years' Experience or Master's Degree – 8 Years' Experience

e. Must have, or be able to obtain, a DoD SECRET Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications: a. Familiar with current Army/Joint doctrine.

b. Two years' experience in design, planning, configuration, and conduct of large-scale computer simulation exercises.
