Network Monitoring Tech 4

Northrop Grumman's Enterprise Shared Services division is looking for an experienced and talented Network Monitoring Technician. Put your years of experience into a future of excellence. This position may be located in Irving, TX or Lebanon, VA.

The selected candidate will monitor the health and availability of the Northrop Grumman computing infrastructure and all connected components. Using the ITIL V3 Incident Management process, the selected candidate provides initial incident diagnosis and coordinates efforts to restore service, while providing status to the customers. The selected candidate will participate in and may lead the determination of root cause of incidents, and will serve as the Point of Contact for various events and outages. Additional duties include but are not limited to providing TACACS support to the Network Services organization, ensuring that the CMDB and the Knowledge management system are up to date, interfacing with a variety of customers, partners, vendors, management and employees, creating and maintaining EEOM procedures and work instructions, along with creating and maintaining various usage and metrics reports. This role involves working in a high pressure environment with minimal supervision and is designated a co-team lead position.

EEOM is a 24x7 operations and the potential exists for on-call availability and working on a variety of shifts, including holidays and weekends.

Basic Qualifications:

AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 4 years of related experience, or 8 years of related experience.

Knowledge of SNMP, MIB, SNMP Traps, SNMP Communities

Knowledge of network topologies, devices, troubleshooting techniques

Ability to solve problems by utilizing training, knowledge, tools and analytical skills

Ability to lead event and/or outage management events, and provide effectively written communications.

Strong attention to details – driven to prevent errors

Able to grasp complex information quickly and probe effectively where additional information is required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

US citizenship is required for this position.

The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of the NG tools for monitoring the computing infrastructure – EMC SMARTS and the IT Service Management toolset – vFire.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Able to abide by the assigned work schedule and potentially work a variety of shifts (organization is a 24x7 operation).
